Description

A physically demanding day hike with three different trails, a handful of scenic waterfalls, a swimming hole, and some bouldering.

At times, this can be a very strenuous hike due to its steeply sloping loess bluff hills and frequent creek crossings. The trails are all marked with blazes and the occasional trail map. Clark Creek has over 50 waterfalls, many of which range from 10 to 30 feet. One of which along the trail has a good sized swimming hole to play in. There are even a couple of good boulders to climb if you look around.

As far as parking goes, you can either park in the small lot at the Clark Creek Trailhead or park along the side of the road next to the parking lot. There is a parking fee of $4 + $0.50 per person over six people. Bathrooms and water fountains are both located at the beginning of trailhead as well.

Once on the Clark Creek Trail, continue for about half a mile to a fork in the trail. The right continues down the Clark Creek Trail, and the left leads down the Primitive Trail. Both trails loop around to this fork, so it doesn't matter which direction you choose to go. I turned right and continued down the Clark Creek Trail for about another quarter mile to the Waterfall Trail. The Waterfall Trail continues on for about half a mile to the Primitive Trail which loops around for 2.6 miles to the first fork in the trail.

Please take all trash out with you, be sure to take plenty of pictures, and have a great day out in nature!

Hike the Clark Creek Nature Area Loop Reviews

I loved everything about it just letting people know that they will have to climb and maneuver through rocks:)

The perfect place to come to once Spring has warmed things up a bit, but before it gets too hot in the Summer. Lots of steep hiking and waterfalls. They even have some bouldering and swimming holes here! If only you could camp here, then this would be the perfect weekend getaway.
