360 degree picturesque views of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Lake Superior from Au Sable Point Lighthouse.

This was a fun visit while at the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.  There was a volunteer couple running the lighthouse portion and they were friendly, kind, and well informed. The tour itself (led by a NPS ranger I believe) was just ok, but it was still interesting.  The views at the top of the lighthouse make this a worthy $3 and hour visit!

This lighthouse was built in 1873-1874 and stands 86 feet high.  To get here, park in the day use area for the Hurricane River Campground.  Then, you will have to walk 1.5 miles (one way) to the lighthouse.  After parking, walk east through the campground and follow the trail.  The trail turns into the U.S. Coast Guard access road (watch for vehicles).  If you want a more lively hike, take some of the side trails down to the beach to check out about shipwrecks along this shore.

-The tour costs $3 for people age 6 and above.  You have to have exact change.  It starts at the lighthouse east porch.

-There are very specific hours:  Wednesday through Sunday from mid-June through the end of September or through early October (as staffing permits). There are no tours on Mondays and Tuesdays. Times for the tours are: 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 4:30 pm).

-Lasts 30-40 minutes

***Note: I couldn't find the exact locaton of Hurricane River Campground on Outbound's map, so put the campground into your GPS or type in this: Au Sable Point Trail, Seney, MI 49883
