Visit Edgartown Lighthouse

Edgartown, Massachusetts

Description

Added by Jessica Cho

This quick roughly 0.5 mile out and back walk to Edgartown Lighthouse in Edgartown, MA is stunning all year-round.

If you're looking for a quick way to get your steps in while taking in beautiful ocean views and the salty air, the walk to the Edgartown Lighthouse is the perfect activity. It's an easy, straight-line trail that will take you directly onto Lighthouse Beach.

In the summer, the beach is a beautiful place to swim, picnic, and relax. It's also a popular spot for shore fishermen as striped bass and albacore tend to cluster in this area when in season. You'll watch as boats go in and out of the harbor from dawn til dusk. Visit during the evening to catch the gorgeous sunset. The walk to this beach is still well worth it even during the colder fall and winter months. In the winter, you can get the entire beach to yourself and snap some unique, snowy scenic photos. You can take in the beauty of the lighthouse in peace and solitude without the bustle of others. On your way to the lighthouse, you can stop along one of the smaller side beaches to stroll in the sand and check out the oceanfront.

This trail is accessible year-round and great for all skill levels. Parking can be rather difficult during the popular summer months. Grab any spot you can find heading towards the trailhead. The beginning section of the walk is a bit steep, so be sure to have some help for wheelchairs and strollers. Edgartown is such a charming New-England oceanside town and is most vibrant during the summer when people are out and about. But don't overlook this scenic spot at other times of the year!
