Mount Baldy has amazing views for being a relatively short scramble. It is located not far off the highway, so it is easy to get to. It has a great combination of scrambling and hiking, and hey! There is even a rock couch for you to enjoy along the way!

Roughly 12.7 km off of the Trans-Canada, down Kananaskis Trail, there is a small stream on the left hand side of the road. It looks like a little road side pull over. Park your car here. There are many trails branching from this car park; stay left. Follow trail markers up through the forest. The forest is thin so you get some nice views right away. Shortly after tree-line, you encounter a crux. You can down-climb the crux, or, if you backtrack a few minutes there is a trail leading to left (looking down the mountain). There is the option to bypass here if you look carefully. The bypass is steep with loose material. Choose your own adventure-scramble or bypass. Whichever way you choose, once past, you will end up scrambling over many boulders as you make your way to the summit. Choose your own scramble path to the summit. Once you make it the North summit, you can either return the way you came, or continue over to the South summit as well. Round trip time 3.5 hours not going to the South summit. Skill level intermediate only because of the crux.
