The Copper
McCarthy, Alaska
The house has one bedroom, queen bed and a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. Each guest house is screened by natural vegetation for privacy but retains a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.
All customers must drive to our location.
The Copper is a lovely, custom Alaskan log house. The house is fully contemporary with power 24/7, hot and cold running water, private bathroom with tub and shower, full kitchen with all the pots and pans and utensils all provided. Additionally, there is a gas grill supplied out on the spacious deck where you'll be able to enjoy the views while grilling. There is also a table and chairs set on the deck for outdoor dining, relaxing or enjoying a beverage while enjoying the views.
We have a total of 6 guest houses and you'll have to check-in at the office to get the keys for your accommodations. We also have a large grass yard with toys, balls, frisbees, etc. for guests to use if they have energy after a full day of hiking around the area.
Unfortunately, we can't make a reservation for guests who decide to not drive in on the road to our business. We are just a little bit too far (about 3 miles one way) from the end of the road to be workable for walking back and forth. We don't offer a shuttle service from our business to the end of the road and there are no other shuttles on our side of the bridge. We would recommend a different business if you decide to come to McCarthy by some other means than driving. We have tried working it out in the past with other clients and it just isn't satisfactory for everyone involved.
We love to meet everyone and spend some time with as many visitors as possible. We produce all of our electricity with solar panels and store the energy in an industrial battery bank. You should expect unlimited power for charging your devices while visiting us. There are no irons, hairdryers, toasters or other electric appliances though. This helps us to conserve our electricity since we are fully off the grid.
We recycle all glass, aluminum and burnable products. All organic food scraps are fed to our chickens so that we can get manure from them and get rid of smelly food wastes. We appreciate your help in sorting the recyclables in the handy, in-house containers provided.
