Great place to catch the sunset in Long Beach/Signal Hill. Clear views of the port, downtown LA, the San Gabriel Mountains and Catalina. The parking lot for the park has *maybe* 5 spaces. You need to park on the street in the surrounding neighborhoods.

We camped at Jackrabbit Mountain for 2 nights in late June and we’re blown away. We couldn’t believe that we were able to get a lakeside campsite without a reservation (we were there on a Wednesday and Thursday night.) We kayaked on the peaceful lake, hiked the extensive trail system throughout the park and swam each night we were there. We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed this park, even though sections of our trail were very steep with loose gravel. The day we hiked was very hot and during the driest part of the year. There is not an abundance of shade so be sure to bring plenty of water.

Hidden staircase tucked into a cute neighborhood. I went on a weekday morning and I was the only one there.
