Know for it's impressive hight, the Forest Hill Bridge in Auburn, California is one of the most beautiful but fierce bridges I've ever seen. After seeing many pictures of the bridge, I had my mind made up of going over there to check it out. However, what most caught my mind were the pictures of people actually climbing up the I-beams of the bridge and hanging of ledges hundreds of feet off the ground. Being the adrenaline junkie that I am, I figured this might be a good call to satisfy my thirst for adventure.

Finding the bridge is easy; you pull off of highway 80 in Auburn, the pull-off road is simply named Foresthill Road. Now you'll just have to drive a mile or two and you'll realize you're driving over the bridge. It doesn't really matter what side of the bridge you park on, however I like parking on the opposite side of the highway because it's easier to access the bottom of the bridge.

From there it's all up to you! There are millions of trails and cool lakes, rivers, and even dams, but as planned, I wanted to climb the bridge. All I had to do was hop an elevated fence and I was already on an I-beam. Although it was raining, the grip of my boots and of the metal was strong. And in the skill level category for this adventure, I wasn't sure whether I was to rank it expert or beginner or what because in all honesty, walking the I-beams isn't hard at all, it just takes a lot of bravey (or a lot of balls, whatever the difference may be) to be that high off the ground. And quite frequently there are stong winds, so lots of precaution was taken. In the end, my friend and I made it all the way to the middle and back.

As much as I'd like to return to the bridge and climb underneath, ther city of Auburn has officially shut down all access to the bottom of the bridge due to the high and increasing death rates. Now it is only permissable to drive and walk over it. However, I'm very thankful to have been able to experience the rush of adrenaline with one of my best friends.
