What a Surprise!?! Easy hike with a great view without the crowds.

Great Park! I arrived on a Wednesday and nearly had to place to myself. Pair activities in the park with the nearby National Forest lands and you've got days of adventure and exploring!

French Creek State Park is a great destination close to Philadelphia for those seeking any number of outdoor activities. Hiking, mountain biking, fishing, paddling on the lakes, etc. That said, the camp grounds are quite cramped and crowded. For anyone who enjoys any type of solitude, "peace and quite" or "getting away from it all" from a camping experience, this is not your campground. Definitely make this park a destination on your day trip list for its many outdoor activities, just leave the tent at the house and pack a lunch instead.

Fun trail system for my family. With two young hikers (5 & 8), the cliffs and river kept them interested. Hiked this trail on a warmer February day and found this to be a great Winter hike for the views. Can't wait to see this hike in the other 3 seasons. Overall it seemed that multiple trail options were available, which makes for a great "choose your own adventure" day hiking option.

My wife and I made this hike with our three young sons and found it to be a perfect family adventure! Wearing my two year old, but letting our 8 and 5 year old hike the distance, it was an entertaining hike for us all. While the view from the top was nice (up via the "Red Dot trail"), we quite enjoyed the view on the return loop along the stream (blue dot to the Appalachian) with the multiple small waterfalls and pools being the highlight. The only negatives would be the crowds on the trail, but even in consideration of the heavy foot traffic, the trail was kept quite clean.
