Start your hike from the Reedy Creek Parking Area. Hike through the woods down to the Reedy Creek. At this point, cross the bridge and hike along the river to the ruins of an old mill and some nice rock formations. Continue up the hill to the River Creek Multi-use trail and then back down the hill to the parking area. In the right season (spring), you may see lots of wildflowers along the way!

This is a somewhat strenuous hike up Picacho Mountain. The trail is 3 miles round trip and has an elevation gain of 1200 ft. Great views from the top and also many cacti species can be seen along the trail.

The Scenic HWY 12 is a great stretch en route to Bryce Canyon. Stop at the overlooks and take in the beautiful surrounding scenery. The red rocks are spectacular!

Keukenhof is best visited in the spring when all the tulips, daffodils and other bulbs are in full bloom. There are numerous paths meandering through the flower beds. It is a great place to take photographs. There is a nice restaurant in the park if you need to grab a bite.  Keukenhof is easily accessed by bus, car or train.

There is not a designated trail here. You will have to find your own way up the mesa. The climb is rated as moderate is about 2 miles long. There is an elevation gain of about 700 ft. Good views from the top.

The trail follows the foothills of the Organ Mountains. The terrain is hilly but not very difficult to hike. There are some steep laces and also some sandy places. I have only hiked sections of the trail at different occasions . There are a lot of interesting plants along the trail. The trail is nice to hike at anytime of the year.

Start your hike from the Stanton Street parking area. The trail starts a little steep at first but then levels out. There are several connections to other trails. There is a good view of a small canyon and also a cave. Hike both trails and enjoy some very good views of the Franklin Mountains and the abundance of wildflowers particularly at the end of the summer. In the fall, enjoy the many beautiful grasses. The trails are not too steep  but long and are a pleasure to hike in sections. Bikers would not have any problems biking the whole length of the trails. Here is a map of Franklin Mountains. 

There is actually not a trail. You will have to scramble up the mountain. There are good views of some very nice petroglyphs and great views of the Otero Mesa from the top.

Highway 27 stretches from Highway 26, west of Hatch, to Hillsboro, NM. where it merges with NM 152. From there drive east to Interstate 25 near Lake Caballo where the scenic byway ends. Fun old town located at the bottom of Silver Creek Canyon. Many older mining buildings, mining memorabilia, a museum and hiking trails. There are a couple of restaurants open during the summer. Highway 159 to Mogollon is quite steep and scenic offering great views of the Mogollon Mountains.

Great hike along a canyon above Whitewater river. You descent to the river bed when there is no high water. There is a picnic area and a place to relax along the river. Walking on the planks is quite fun.

Started my journey right after I park on the dirt that passes under the interstate. Headed north up the hill passed an old mine and continued until I reached the arroyo. Climbed around the arroyo to see the different petroglyphs. Good views of the Rio Grande valley below.

To get to Tonuco Mountain North of RadiumSprings , NM from Las Cruces, NM take Interstate 25 to exit 32. Once off the interstate turn left on go under the interstate. Stop at the visitor center first then take your time walking the trails and exploring the different rooms, especially the great house. This National Monument is a Unesco World Heritage site.

Get started at the visitor center to get the lay of the land. Then, take your time visiting all the historic buildings that are open to the public. This is a great family stop on a road trip as well as a good place to escape the heat during the summer. 

The nature trail is an easy trail to walk and gives you very good views of the rock formations. To see the pictographs you will have to hike up the North Mountains to get the best views. The West and East Mountains are only accessible by guided tours. Hike along the Old Tin Mine Road to the junction of Scenic Road trail.  There are many species of cacti  and desert plants along the trail. Start your hike from the Sierra Vista parking lot. Proceeded NE toward Bishops Cap. At first, the trail goes through some small arroyos and is a little rocky. After about half a mile, the trail is rather flat and goes through some sandy and grassy areas. Enjoy good views of the mountains!

Hike the trail starting from the visitor center and take your time walking along the rim. Be sure to admire the canyon below and the ancient dwellings in the canyon walls. During the right season, there are also beautiful wildflowers along the way. This trail is partially paved and easy to walk.
