Camp at Redfish Lake
Details
Added by Matt O'Connor
Redfish Lake is a great basecamp for tons of hikes near nearby. Want to get out on the lake, there is a lodge with rental sups and canoes. At Redfish, there are 8 campgrounds with a 100 plus sites.
There are plenty of camping spots all within walking distance of the lake or the outlet stream. There are also tons of hikes in the surrounding Sawtooth Mountain Range. The lake is known for its historic Sockeye Salmon runs. The lake is very close to Stanley Idaho and leads into the salmon river. The view from the lake rivals places like the Canadian rockies or the Dolomites. There are spots for campers and Rv's but tent camping is easier.
If having four walls is more your speed, you can reserve a room at the Redfish Lake Lodge.

Reviews
Leave a ReviewExcellent Basecamp
Camping at Redfish Lake is an excellent opportunity to experience gorgeous views, a comfortable camping experience (especially at the larger sites like Glacier View) and access to Redfish Lake. However, I recommend making your campsite a base camp for exploring the Sawtooths with fewer people and actually getting into the mountains.

Great lake
This lake is pretty popular, but every time I go it never seems too crowded. Hang at the beach, grab some ice cream, go paddle boarding, or start a hike from here!

Unreal Views
This place is stunning. Words could not do it justice. I only wish we would have brought the kayaks!

My Favorite Place to Camp
Redfish Lake is my favorite place to camp. The views are spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset. Bring chairs to lounge on the beach, and a kayak or paddle board if you have it.
