Iceland's dramatic coastal landscapes are at their peak along this vast glacial valley just outside of Höfn.

Grab a car and drive roughly 45mins east of Höfn to discover a coastline of giant ice shards on the shore, waterfalls and epic mountain cliffs.

The Lon Glacial Valley extends from the well known Vestrahorn in the west towards Estrahorn in the east.

You'll see barely another sole or car in sight as reindeers forage in the fields and the snow capped mountains reflect in the shallow water.

A small carpark is available on the location noted on the map and here you can wander along the shore as far as you wish.

Just beneath Estrahorn you'll also find a flock of roughly 1000 Icelandic swans floating gracefully against the stunning scenery.

Look for a point of interest sign for Hvalnes and pull off the road into the dirt parking lot. You can get some great photos here and then continue walking for around 10 minutes until you reach the ocean.
