HI-TEC: How We Turn our Work into an Everyday Adventure

An inside perspective to the Outdoor Industry from the employees of HI-TEC Sports

Driving west, we were exhausted, and bound for home on a Sunday night. While many of our friends in the city just spent the weekend eating and drinking their way through our home city of Portland, Oregon, our joy came from the adventure that was the last two days. You see, we put in 40-hour work weeks like so many of you, but we possess a belief that weekends must count for something. Most people have a “work life” and a “personal life,” but how do you make the two seem intertwined? The answer is simple. Create for yourself a life that is centered around one word. Adventure.

We’re more than just a footwear company. Just like many of you, we’re a mixed band of explorers that are driven to take our passions and turn them into some great product. During the day, we may be referenced as designers, accountants, or marketers…but the reality is that we all share one thing in common; an innate desire to access adventure, both near and far, 365 days a year.

This first story briefly follows four of us getting outside the city limits of Portland and heading east on Oregon’s highway 84. Why? Simply to enjoy the company of one another, all whilst being immersed in Mother Nature. We had no plans and no destination. Just a car, a map, some HI-TEC boots, a few supplies for camp, and of course an undeniable quest to create memories that would last a lifetime.

Whether it was the epic Oregon waterfalls, the perfect Washington campsite, that striking evening sunset, or the amazing coffee, food, and beer that Portland spoils us with, this weekend was perfection. Snap a few photos, go on a hike, laugh at some campfire stories, and eat some s’mores. It’s simple, but its where we found joy on that early summer weekend. It's experiences like these that truly keep us grinding through our work weeks. Most will refer to these moments as “adventure”…but we refer to them as a life that’s well lived.

Collectively, we are proud of our 43-year-old heritage, and we want to share with you our brand ethos. The ensuing blogs on this account will be shared from employees, fans of ours, and even new friends that we make along the way. Want to write for us and share your adventure? Be our guest. Better yet, follow the account! We look forward to the journey and friendships that we create ahead.

Remember to live #everydaywild.

We want to acknowledge and thank the past, present, and future generations of all Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples whose ancestral lands we travel, explore, and play on. Always practice Leave No Trace ethics on your adventures and follow local regulations. Please explore responsibly!
