Went during December after the rain didn't allow us to stay for very long at Shi Shi Beach. Multiple look-offs and a well maintained boardwalk make this very easy and very enjoyable.

Visit during the winter solstice to see huge waves and scramble over the mountains of driftwood along the spit. It is terribly long, much longer than I expected. Walk to the lighthouse but make sure you don't get stranded!

The switchbacks felt endless. It was always worth it when we made it to the top. As always watch out for rattlesnacks.

If it's a weekend get there Friday night and prepare to sleep in line. A little bit of a hassle and maybe a few morning hours wasted but afterwards the headache of having to find a campsite will be completely gone.
