Tunnels Beach offers a great inner reef area with calmer waters for swimming and kids. The outer reef offers snorkeling and diving.

Makua, aka Tunnels, is known for its incredible mountain scenery. This beach also offers great snorkeling, where people will usually see turtles. Public parking, bathrooms and showers are available at Haena Beach Park located west of Tunnels. Be sure to head to the beach early, parking on the town's streets can be a little challenging.

Relax at Tunnels Beach, Kauai Reviews

This is my favorite spot on Kauai. We have gone while staying in Princeville and even did the drive from Poipu Beach to spend another day there. The snorkeling is some of the best on the island and we saw lots of turtles. We also had two endangered monk seals entertain us in the waves right on shore one of the days. The views and mountain surrounding are incredible. One of my favorite spots that I have ever been to.

Tunnels Beach had some of the best snorkeling during our trip. Be sure to get to the parking lot really early in the AM. It fills up fast and once it fills up your options are limited to none because parking is illegal along the main residential road.

This is definitely a great place for little ones. There are a couple of alley ways where you can park close to the beach. These are private alleys leading into private properties, but they allow parking. Get here early, or at 11ish, when some people start leaving for lunch.
