Kauai: Napali Coast Camping
Kauai, Hawaii
Description

Camping on only one of 2 campsites in the areaGuided kayaking to the campsiteThe adventure of a lifetime
We require a guide for anyone who has not paddled the coast before. Our guides have many years leading kayak tours along the Na Pali Coast and will not only enrich your paddle adventure, but also ensure a safe and good time is had by all. There are only two remote camp sites along the coast. The first site, Kalalau, is about 7 miles. This impressive beach and valley is also accessible via the 11 mile hiking trail. When traveling to Kalalau by kayak, a maximum of five camping nights are allowed and require a standard camping permit. Miloli’i, the second campsite, is about 11 miles down the coast. A maximum of three nights are allowed at this camp site. It is accessible via the ocean only so only a camping permit is required as landing is assumed. A fee system is now in place for both camp sites. Kalalau and Miloli’i permits are $20 per night and can be obtained through the DLNR State Parks WebsiteWe use Sit-On-Top Kayaks made by Ocean Kayak (singles or doubles). Singles are Scuppers, ruddered or un-ruddered tandems are ether Zests or Cabos with or without rudders. You can choose between ruddered or un-ruddered boats, although we strongly suggest you use a ruddered kayak as we generally get a following sea or “wind swell”. The safety of the group is of the utmost importance. For this reason, we ask you to take as many doubles as possible and we require at least one double in a group, (i.e. seasickness or fatigue). We will supply you with 1 extra large dry bag per person and we feel that is the max you should bring (essentially, a full camping backpack is the max).
