Just 2 hours away from the hectic day to day of Atlanta is the highest point in Georgia, Brasstown Bald Mountain!

Once you make it to the parking area (parking fee required) to Brasstown Bald you will be at about 4284 feet elevation. From there you will have a short (0.6 mile) but steep hike to the tower that sits atop Brasstown Bald. Along the path you will see Rhododendron and various other blooms depending on the season. Brasstown Bald is 4784 feet making it the highest point in Georgia!! There is a few benches along the way to catch a breath if needed. Also during the summer and fall season they offer a bus ride to the top. The dedicated hiker can see an incredible sunrise from here! The sunsets that go down behind the southern Appalachian mountains are also very stunning!!

The hike to the top of Brasstown Bald provides arguably the best mountain views in all of North Georgia. The viewing platform at the top offers a full 360-degree panoramic view that seems endless, with the distant mountains fading into the same blue as the sky above. You can see Hiawassee to the North, Rabun Bald to the East, and Blood Mountain to the SW. All-in-all, the view is unbeatable. The only reason I give this hike 4 stars is because besides the overlook at the top, there is little else to note on the short hike. Even though its distance is short, it is definitely steep and will definitely get you short of breath!

The hike up is pretty steep but it is a short hike. If you have anyone who would have trouble making the hike the do offer a shuttle to drive you up to the top. The views from the top are incredible. I highly recommend going during the fall time when the leaves are beginning to change colors.
