Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain this state park has stunning view of a gorge that cuts through the mountain causing a canyon over over 1,000 feet (300 meters) deep. There are two easy to hike to waterfalls: Cherokee Falls and Hemlock Falls.
The hike starts at the parking lot that overlooks the rim of the canyon. The trail will go down a 600-step staircase to the floor of the canyon where its a 0.3 mile (0.48 km) hike to Cherokee Falls. Cherokee Falls is a 60 foot (18 m) water fall. Another 0.5 mile (0.80 km) down the trail is Hemlock Falls a 90 foot (27 m) waterfall.
One insider's tip, the best view of the sunset is the overlook area between the main overlook and picnic areas 1-4
