Whats neater than feeling the cool spray from a huge waterfall on a warm summer day? Relaxing in a bubbling hot spring at the same time. I recomend this hike to anyone looking for great photos and great memories.

My girlfriend and I backpacked out here after 4x4ing to the trailhead. Just the drive alone is scenic as hell but once you start to climb on the trail you are blessed with views of the backside of the maroon bells as well as snowmass peak. The lake is a perfect place to set up a hammock and relax under the sun.

The crystal mill is a classic photography location. This road is fine for a high clearence 4x4 car however past the mine it gets pretty gnarly. Awesome place to check out in the fall colors

I hiked back here in January with my friend. The trail was nice and bootpacked. We brought snowshoes and strapped them on once we got to the frozen snow-covered lake and shoed across the lake in the fresh powder. Amazing view. A bit windy at the lake. The hike is not bad.

In winter this bad boy freezes over completely leaving a gnarly jagged ice formation that stands a hundred feet tall. Very impressive and the short hike is usually tracked out with a good trail.

This is worth a stop if you are anywhere near the area. Walk across the bridge, walks along the gorge, anywhere you go is going to beautiful with the lovely backdrop of the taos mountains. While you're in the area stop by Taos Mesa Brewing just down the street for some amazing nachos, killer local beer, a great indoor/outdoor environment, and almost always live music. This bridge has been featured in many movies including Terminator 3 and Natural Born Killers.

Starting the drive in Santa Fe in the high desert, getting up to the ski hill base in the mountains, hiking up to beautiful aspen groves, and ending at a pristene high elevation lake. What's better than that? make it a 3 day trip and use the middle day to climb Mt Baldy which you can see the top of from the lake.

My girlfriend and I did this trip in Spring. We intended on staying 2 nights, hiking out on the third day. We camped at Lake Katherine which is at the base of the big mountain Baldy. This side trip adds on 4 miles roundtrip, but it gives you a good starting and ending point to summit the mountain. Once you get up to the saddle before you start the trail to the peak you simply keep walking straight down the other side of the saddle and down to the lake, To summit you walk back up the trail to the saddle and hit the trail up the mountain. It can be a little windy at the lake but for the most part it was sunny and warm.

This event is spectacular. The colors and vividness of the balloons while 300 float in the sky at once... amazing. The event is fun, good food, good people. I suggest going on a weekend morning when the most balloons launch. or catch the balloon glow on designated nights! you may be lucky enough to reserve a flight ahead of time so you can be onboard as they do the mass ascension. the event recently gained sponsorship from Canon so there must be something worth photographing!

This loop is long and loaded with tons of cool things to learn if you bring the trail guide map. Fun climbing up the ladders and going into the kivas. Good for kids and able bodied adults. Its surprising how much this loop has to offer in terms of ruin variety, intricacy of the ruins, and the excitement of climbing

Come up this route in the summer for an amazing free camping spot. If you have a high clearance vehicle you can follow the road back to make the walk to the springs shorter. Camp and make a midnight stroll to the hot springs under the moon. Whats better than that?!

Awesome place to climb and if you want to take a break or have people in your group who don't climb walk back and follow the river for a beautiful hike into the deeper woods.

I went on this in July. It was super hot but not very crowded. Definitely worth walking up to the very top. You get an amazing view of the surrounding area as well as the tent rocks. Bring water! No pets allowed unfortuntaly :(

this place is awesome. i have also camped above the springs and walked down to them. it can get crowded but it is really incredible
