Swim and Cliff Jump at Madison Blue Springs
Lee, Florida
Description

Swim in crystal clear water at this easy to find and well-maintained swimming hole in Madison Blue Springs State Park.
This natural spring is easily one of the best hidden gems in Florida. The pool of water is crystal clear for swimming, scuba-diving, and jumping in from off on a cliff to the side. The water is also about 70 degrees - a perfect compliment to the hot, humid climate of Florida. A rip current in the shallower rocky area leads to a river as well as more places to lay out in the sun. Since it's a state park it is well-maintained with easy access and plenty of parking. There's a fence wrapping around the entire body of water with a couple of picnic benches to eat and relax at.
The location is typically as crowded as it should be for how accessible and beautiful it is. Even though this is a commericialized area, Madison Blue Springs is still an amazing place to visit and I highly recommend that everyone makes a stop here.

Swim and Cliff Jump at Madison Blue Springs Reviews
The springs are wonderful! HOWEVER, do not go there without first calling the ranger station to confirm swimming will be allowed! I completed a 74 mile kayak/camping trip in Oct 15' & water was pristine. Went back in Feb 16' and with all the rain the water was black/murky & AWEFUL. All water access points for swimming were closed. Thankfully, we were simply interested in enjoying the solitude & rented the cabins through RESERVE AMERICA. (Note: although the cabins were superb, clean & well appointed...the magnificent fireplaces were not allowed to be used! Temps were unusually cool for Florida Feb [35-50*] which was thoroughly disappointing! The gas has all been removed & now there are little fake room heaters w/ a red lightbulb in front!) grrrrrrr....
