The Maroon Bells Loop is an adventure that any backpacker dreams of! Glorious sites, various terrains, big passes, cool campsites, waterfalls, lakes, etc. It was a week long trip for my group, but could be done in 4-5 days depending on how hard you want to push yourself. I’d definitely take time to acclimated if you are not from Colorado. There is an old campsite called Lost Remuda which is hard to find and out of the way for most backpackers, but is without a doubt the most unique and secluded campsite on the trip.

Some friends and I did this route together and it was a blast! I recommend it for anyone who loves backpacking! Train and get your pack to a good weight before taking it on, but make sure you do this trail. Best campsite is at Sunset Lake, camp at the site in the trees above the lake for a glorious evening and morning.

Mcdill Point can be a shorter backpacking trip or a fun day hike! It offers 3 major lookout points that are some of the best spots at Cheaha State Park. Hike the loop clockwise for the full loop trail or counter clockwise for a quicker trip to the overlooks. This is part of the Pinhoti Trail so make sure you stay on the correct trail.
