Three rockshelters can be found along this loop where archaeological digs have unearthed rock tools and cultivated seeds. At least one of these rockshelters are blocked off for restoration and protection of the White-haired Goldenrod, the only place in the world you can find this plant, so be careful when exploring! This hike is a very special and magical place. If you camp on top of Cloudsplitter under the right weather conditions you will be handsomely rewarded at sun rise!

For an extended hike take Pinch 'Em Tight (#223) Trailhead to Rough Trail (#221) to Gray's Arch. Park at the Gray's Arch Parking Lot and head back on the gravel drive from the direction you came. Pinch 'Em Tight Trailhead is a short distance on your left. Take a left on Rough Trail and explore Hansen's Point before descending into the valley for some vista overlooks. Lots of backcountry sites available on the way to Hansen's Point!

Auxier Ridge is one of my favorite power loops in the Gorge. From Haystack Rock, to the Wizard's Backbone, on over to Courthouse Rock and Double Arch there is plenty of beautiful vistas and rock formations to explore! Scramble down if front of Haystack Rock to a shallow cave. Marvel at the valleys below while crossing the Wizard's Backbone. Scale to the top of Courthouse Rock for incredible 360 degree views. And climb to on top of Double Arch to view it all from the other side of the valley!

Great Sunday hiking trails with a small cave that can be explored, so bring a headlamp! The trail head is actually off of Shanty Hill Rd. So be careful if using the Google Directions listed here. Enjoy!

So many amazing views on this short section of the AT before the split to Grassy Ridge. The trail to Jane Bald tends to be busy, but thins out by the time you reach Grassy Ridge. Plenty of established campsites, so explore the area before unpacking. Oh, and be sure to batten down the hatches on your tent it can get very windy up there!
