This adventure takes you through one of the prettiest and most wild basins in the state, and rewards you with absolutely unreal views of Southwest Colorado.

The easiest approach is from Ouray. Drive up Camp Bird road to Weehawken trailhead. 4WD is not necessary.

Head up the trail as far as it is marked. The trail will soon become faint, but a line up the saddle between Mt. Ridgeway and Whitehouse Mt. can be easily found. Take the couloir facing northwest. Depending on conditions and possible ice/snow, it should be a class 2 scramble to complete the route and reach the top.

The few people who decide to summit Mt. Ridgeway also go for Whitehouse. That will be a full day, but checks off two incredible peaks!
