Overlooking the Rampart Range, Dawson Butte Ranch sits conveniently close to downtown Castle Rock. Wide dirt paths allow plenty of space for multiple activities and the views of the Front Range overshadowed by Pikes Peak and Devil's Head are nothing short of spectacular.Wildlife: Black Bear, Elk, Mule Deer, Mountain Lions

Dawson Butte Ranch consists of a five-mile loop that begins at the designated parking area. The parking area features a trail map, picnic tables, fire rings and bathrooms. Accessible by any type of vehicle year round.

The trail has a wide variety of terrain from heavy forest to open meadows. Although Dawson Butte's summit is not accessible, there are plenty of rocks to climb and places to relax along the trail.

Dawson Butte allows snowshoeing, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, trail running, dogs, XC skiing, etc. As this trail is not too challenging, you will find athletes of all skill levels enjoying the Ranch. Overnight camping is prohibited.
