Never lose your keys in the Great Sand Dunes

Alamosa County, Colorado

Description

Added by Shelby Unruh

This is an amazing place to visit during the fall season because the sand isn't too hot on bare feet!

This trip was amazing... Until my friend Claire lost her keys in the dunes! We got there right when the sun was setting because we left after training. We had some picture ideas and the lighting was perfect so we grabbed our camera stuff and took off! I guess we were so excited that my friend didn't realize that her keys jumped out of her pocket! We looked for about 45 minutes and at that point the sun was long gone! Luckily we got a hold of a park ranger and he was able to break into her car! We were planning on camping at the campsite that is about 11 miles down the road from the park so we had stuff to keep us warm. (Thank God) So we slept in our car and got up in the morning and went hunting! We only made it up one hill the night before so we retraced our steps and by some miracle found what we were missing!
