This is a great way to visit an uncrowded high alpine lake without having to hike very far.
Starting at Kite Lake camp ground, the trail to Lake Emma climbs west past a few camp sites and away from the more popular trails that lead to Colorado 14er's Mount Bross, Mount Democrat, and Mount Lincoln. You immediately gain a great view of the Buckskin Creek drainage. Along the way there are many Marmots and Picas making their homes in the rocky terrain. Follow the trail to the left of the large cascade and arrive at the main Lake. From here there are many opportunities for rock scrambling and a variety of different vistas.
