Description

This challenging hike's decent is more beautiful than the summit

Note: This hike is open from June 10th September 30th.

Note: There is a good chance there will be snow at the top of the mountain, or that it will be snowing.

Start by parking at the discovery center. Once parked, head towards the discovery center, past it and across the road. Here you will find the trailhead. From here follow the signs that say la Saillie (the tails overlap).  After about 3km you will reach a lookout, this is the end of the Saillie trail. From here you will see a sign to the right marking the path to the summit. Just before you reach the summit of the mountain, there will be an outhouse. If there is still snow from winter. use the rope (as pictured above) to help you climb to the top of the mountain.

If you are tired, you can return the way you came back down to the base.

If you want some excitement, this is where it begins. The descent of this hike is strenuous but beautiful. Be prepared to hike down very steep grades with large thigh high (at least for my 5'3" physique). There are a few minor snowmelt stream crossings, so ensure you are crossing at the correct place.

As you descend further down the mountain it will intersect with several other trails. Just make sure you stay on the Mont Albert trail.

On the way down you will get to see the serpentine flat, two waterfalls (Diablo and Saint-Anne) and many other sights!
