Soak in Crab Cooker Hot Springs

Mono County, California

Description

Added by Scott Sichler

Hot springs fed stone tub with great views of the Sierra Mountains.

The Crab Cooker Hot Springs is one of several in the area near Mammoth Lakes, California. The hot water from the springs is piped into a concrete and stone tub. A valve by the tub allows you to regulate the temperature by turning on or off the flow. Be careful as the water coming out of the pipe is extremely hot. The tub will hold about six people who may or may not have swimsuits on. If this one is full you can scout the other springs.

The springs are accessed off Benton Crossing Road from Highway 395. The last mile is on a dirt road which gets increasingly rutted the closer you get to the springs.

Please remember to pack out what you brought in and please help remove any other trash you come across.
