Best hiking I've ever done

This remote location offers the most wonderful hiking opportunities I ever faced. Untouched nature and incredible mountains contribute to the perfect experience!

Wonderful campsite

The rock on the lake will be lit up beautifully in the morning. Do not drive with a normal car but park it at the bathrooms. You will get stuck for sure.

Amazing desert hike

Great fun to do this hike. Walking around King's Canyon provides you with nice views of the surroundings. Gets very crowded in November. A lot of water is absolutely necessary. Wear a hat.

Enjoyable one-day hike

Hiking up on Mt. Ngauruhoe is a must on this hike. High boots are recommendable, otherwise your feet will be filled with small rocks very soon. Hike gets extremely crowded in December.

Wonderful 2-day hike

Especially the first day from the visitor center to the Pouakai hut is wonderful. Be prepared to climb a lot at the end of the hike, you have to ascend a couple 100m in order to get to the hut. When I went in December, the mornings were very cloudy. If you want to take pictures of the reflection of Mt. Taranaki in the pond, do it upon settling down in the hut. IMPORTANT: hut is first-come, first-serve, however, you need to buy hut asses to pay with in advance, available at the visitor center.
