Description

Added by Larry Fleury

This hike is for the beginner or someone just wanting to get into nature without having to travel far. These trails offer waterfalls, lovely creeks, and beautiful trails.

Tanyard Creek Nature Trail is tucked away in the Bella Vista, Arkansas area. The trail may be a small loop of 2.2 miles, but offers everything you crave from any scenic hike. Also, the land is on private property, but open to the public.

You'll start off in semi urban neighborhood with a large parking lot. This parking lot will act as your trailhead, and once you go down the trail, the neighborhood vibe disappears as well. The trail will loop around in a couple places, and depending on the path you take, your elevation will change, but nothing drastic. If you get lost on the trail, don't fret. The trail will take you to back to the parking lot or the waterfall being that it is a loop.

If you take the part of the trail that goes up in elevation, you'll be on your way to a lovely waterfall. The waterfall does have a fence around it to prevent people from hurting the already eroded land near it. There are lovely views of the creek on the way towards the waterfall which is tucked away at the fulcrum of the trail. The waterfall has a nice bench nearby to admire the landscape around you. While near the falls, a jacket might be nice since the cool creek air is more prominent.

If you continue on the trail you'll come back down in elevation and you will see a wooden bridge that has a vintage feel and is easily accessible.

While on my trail, deer may approach you and don't seem afraid of people, nor do they seem harmful. Overall, the trail gives the weekend warrior a quick hike before they need to head home.

Here's a tip: Dogs are welcome on the trail as long as they are on a leash!

Tanyard Creek Nature Trail Reviews

The kids loved it. Teens !!

We really enjoyed the hike and so did our 5 year old. Plenty to keep him interested.

Really had a good time hiking the trails. A lot of cool things to look at. Had fun down town afterwards.

Great trail to take the family on. We took our 4 year old, 2 year old and pregnant wife and we managed ok. I carried our 2 year old but it wasn’t a long enough or hard enough trail to make it too bad.

Beautiful easy trail. Helped me with an emotional getaway.

Nicely maintained trails. Lots of rocks and geology to check out. Nice waterfall at the top near the lake spillway. Couple smaller waterfalls below. Places to climb on rocks and bluffs. Several geocaches and Earthcaches to find. Great for families. Lots of people on the trails.
