Very large canyon with superb views, pueblo ruins and good trails

This is one of the ost scenic canyons I have ever visited.

From Chinle AZ take Highway 7 to the monument . You can start either with the South Rim drive or the North Rim drive. I started with the South Rim and the views fro the overlooks are stunning. Very deep canyon with colorful rocks and views of ancient pueblos. Sider Rock tower is especially beautiful. There are several trails that you can hike leaving from the overlooks. The North Rim drive is also very scenic. The overlooks have very good signs explaining the history of the area.Allow at least half a day to drive both rims and stop at all the overlooks and enjoys the sights.

Next time I visit the monument I want to take a guided tour in the canyon itself.

There are several good restaurants in Chinle where you can get something to eat.
