SE London
My go to shoes for urban walking. My Merrills and I hiked 5 miles in SE London from East Dulwich to Peckham to Nunhead to Lewisham and back!

Simply the best!
Moab 2 & 3 are the best hiking shoes I’ve ever owned. Super comfortable, last a long time, lug sole does great on dirt, hills, mud, ice. Durable laces. Tongue stays put.

Great fit out of the box
I am intending a trip to hike in Peru in May so need a waterproof version of the Moab’s I already love. He new ones retain to light yet rugged construction of previous models. The sole is sufficiently stiff to handle sharp rocks and comfortable to bough for all day wear. I recently broke them in on a hike up and around Enchanted Rock in Texas. Great!

Excellent comfort on paved trail; true 12.5 fit
I'm a 78 year old man that walks and hikes a lot that searches for 12.5 shoes. Knowing that Merrell's are good shoes, I went directly to Merrell to find a 12.5 Moab 3, a good shoe for trail hiking. But my immediate walk was on a paved trail. This Moab for my 5 mile hike was extremely comfortable. Its 1lb 2.3oz was a little heavier than I expected (my Hoka Gaviota 4 and my Bondi 8 are both 13.5oz, but they are more for walking), but did not feel heavy at all. This is a great shoe and I can't wait for a real trail hike!

A comfortable AND supportive hiking shoe
The Moab 3's were comfortable and supportive even on the first wear - I climbed Camelback mountain! The confidence that this shoe provides in handling any kind of rough terrain is priceless. You cannot be stopped in these shoes!

Smell horrible after minimal use
I bought this pair of shoes less than two weeks ago. I had the Goretex version of these previously and wore them for years without issue. In fact I really loved those shoes and they were extremely versatile. Sadly these shoes do not live up to my previous pair. Within two days the shoes smelled horribly due to having poor ventilation. I have tried airing out the insole every evening but they continue to smell. I would not recommend these shoes.

Terrible quality issues with this once great shoe
I have worn Merrell shoes for over 15 years now and specifically the Moab low cut hiking shoe as my everyday out in the elements since they have been available. Unfortunately this will be my last pair as the quality is terrible. The last three pairs of Moab 3 waterproof have had nothing but issues on the front of the shoe and inside the heal. Within a few months of wear the rubber sole will peel back from the tip of the shoe or the front surround will become detached. My latest pair bought in November of 2023 have the stitching at the front surround already fraying and I expect the surround will soon start to come detached. My last two pairs have had the same issue where the heal of the interior liner gets loose creating an irritating feel when worn. Such a shame this once quality shoe has become an over priced third rate product.
