The Jemison Park Nature Trail runs alongside Shades Creek in scenic historic Mountain Brook. A hybrid trail with paved and gravel sections accommodates runners, walkers, and bikers of all abilities.

Jemison Park is a 54-acre green space located in historic Mountain Brook. The main stretch of trail runs alongside Mountain Brook Parkway on one side and Shades Creek on the other, for a total of about 2 miles when connected with the Nature Trail and the Watkins Trace Trail. The park includes a few picnic tables and numerous benches spaced throughout the area.

The trail is typically run as an out-and-back, although it is possible to make it into a nice 3-mile loop (or longer) by connecting with the city’s sidewalk system. The trail stays mostly flat, and includes one creek crossing over concrete pillars, which usually sit above the water level, but crossing after heavy rains may require you to get your feet wet. Note that connecting with other sidewalks to make a loop will add some hills, which can be a nice challenge.

Free street-side parking is usually available in several locations along the trail, with a number of spots once you turn onto Mountain Brook Parkway from Highway 280.
