Description

Added by Colben Freeman

A short, quick hike to a fairly large waterfall in the Talladega National Forest.

The point on the map takes you to a small pull off on the side of the road. Park here and walk over the small dirt mound blocking vehicles from going down the trail. It is less than half a mile to the top of the falls. This is the easy part of the hike though. There is a small trail that leads down the side of the cliff to the bottom of the falls. It is not easy to climb down, and even harder to climb back out. This is not recommended for anyone that is out of shape or young children. It is a wonderful little hike with a great view of a waterfall though.

The side of the mountain will get very muddy and slick if it rains a lot so be prepared for this. Although this would be a huge fall after a good rain. There is a nice sized pool at the bottom of the falls that would be great for a summer swim.

Salt Creek Falls Reviews

The waterfall is a little slippery, i buster my butt on the way down but the climb back up was easy. If you don’t know how to swim this isn’t the place for you, it is VERY deep. Not the main water that the water fall flows into but the water to the left of it is full of snakes so i don’t recommend going much further than the waterfall. Not the ideal place too bring young kids.
