Perfect white sand beaches and solitude only 35 minutes from La Paz

Most visitors to La Paz (understandably) head to the incomparable Playa Balandra, but if you are looking for solitude, El Saltito is just a few minutes away and features incredible snorkeling, a massive forest cardon, and a fantastic sunrise view.

To get there head out of town on Colosio, past Forjadores, until you hit a major intersection with the BCS La Paz-Tecolote Highway. Turn left. Follow the road past the power plant all the way across the peninsula, staying right following the signs.

Eventually you will reach a high hill overlooking the ocean and the beach. As you descend the road will turn to dirt. Eventually there will be an intersection where the main road turns to the right. There are two roads forward: one straight and the other slightly to the left. Go straight. Eventually you will hit the beach.

If you don’t have 4X4 you park on the land side of the dunes and walk over the dune to the beach. There is a road that runs along right behind the beach the whole length.

There are absolutely no services and no cell service, so be sure to bring water, fuel, food, etc. and pack out everything that you pack in.
